Has Apple Lost The Plot?

Has Apple Lost The Plot?

Apple are renown across the world for their flawless technological design. Their products over the last decade have become iconic and a true symbol of luxury. From the first iPod to the latest Apple Watch, they've truly embedded themselves as a leader in the industry.

So what's going on with their latest products...?!

It's worth noting that their core products are fine. The new iPhone, iPad pro, Mac book and Apple Watch still live up to the hype. It is some of their new accessories that are causing some confusion. For a company that has grown one of the single most powerful brands in the world through it's products, these new accessories seem almost like a joke.

iPad Pro - Apple Pencil Charge Point

Whilst the new iPad Pro is a wonderful tablet and it's pencil very practical, the charge point leaves little to be desired. The Apple Pencil needs to be plugged into lightening connection point, then sticking out as if some sort of sign. Surely they could have found a more subtle way of charging the pencil, either directly through the mains power or through wireless charging?

iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case

We then have the recently released battery case for the iPhone 6s. Again it's worth noting that the iPhone 6s is a perfect smart phone and designed to the same standard as it's predecessors. Yet they've designed a case with a horrendous bulge which looks like something from the pre iPhone days.

Apple Magic Mouse 2

Apple have then launched the new Magic Mouse 2, one of the first to not need AA batteries but to be charged instead. What a great idea, until you realize that to charge it you need to flip it upside down! Given that all computer mice had been wired from the front, why suddenly feel the need to put the charge point underneath then leaving it useless until charged?

Apple iPad Pro Smart Cover Keyboard

Last but not least, the new smart cover keyboard for the iPad Pro. Given that other competing keyboard cases are designed to lie flat against the screen it seems strange that Apple have released a keyboard that doesn't! They only have the look at Microsoft to see how it should be done. Not something you would usually say to Apple.

So have Apple lost the plot?

Looking at how much they put into their core products and how flawless their trademark design is, it does seem very strange that some of their new accessories don't match up.

Perhaps a little more time or resource put into these products may result in a more suitable portfolio of accessories. These look like something that a cheap retailer may produce, not Apple themselves.

What do you think?

Do you like the new accessories? Are you worried about Apple? Please write your thoughts in the comments box, it would be good to see what apple fans and non apple fans think.
