Harvard US-India Conference '20
HUII '20 was held on 3rd and 4th of January, 2020 at the most elegant venue of Mumbai,i.e, at the Taj Hotel, Colaba. A social gathering of the 450+ youths from different cities, states and countries possessing their unique thought processes and taste of life. It's indeed an amazing experience when you meet such different but like minded people who possess a diversity in backgrounds and experiences in various forms of subject areas & domain.
For those who don't know what HUII is; it's an organisation run by students who are studying at Harvard University that aims to create a dialogue between Indian & American Youth from US to address some of the India's most pressing social, economic, political and environmental issues today. Hereby you can also view it as an place whereby various industry leaders and speakers come forward to address the youth for the potential changes which are required to be made to accomplish the goals set in. HUII started out by constituting an annual conference, and further went on adding chapters of the US India Initiative at cities & colleges across India and in U.S, which organizes their own activities and events.
HUII conference aims at inspiring youth to debate, discuss and deliberate their ideas for India's future.
Frankly, Debating is not something which takes place in actual sense but there are discussions which are undertaken by panel speakers to know more about the current state of problem and for ready solutions to the same.
Its an advantageous opportunity to be a part of this conference; four reasons being as follows :-
1) Firstly you get a platform to interact with young individuals being of your age group or the ones in their early 30's who are in a journey of exploring different forms of subject areas, domains and know about their enriching work experiences.
2) An opportunity to hear few of the top industry leaders , probably those of whose speeches would be difficult to be found on the internet.
3) An opportunity to ask questions to the speakers post speech during session (provided you are lucky enough to be selected to ask the same).
4) Networking
The best part hereby is that you find a bunch of a mixed form of crowd, i.e, few being in their colleges, few being iitians and iim grads, few being phd holders and rest being entrepreneurs. You can approach and interact with each of such personnel to know about their experiences in their respective roles which they function into in day to day life.
For all of those who weren't the part of this conference, following were the six keynote speakers this time in HUII'20 with the giveaways illustrated :-
1) Dr. Subramanian Swamy (Giveaway - Proposed steps and changes for the progress of the nation considering national and global economy)
2) Justice Madan Lokur (Giveaway - Current State of Judicial and changes required to attain the purpose of speedy and effective justice within nation)
3) Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani (Giveaway - Progressing with having a purpose or goal & his life experience)
4) Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore (Giveaway - Encouragement of Sports within nation at every levels and stages & his life experiences)
5) Manoj Adlakha (Giveaway - Adoption of the new tech and advancement in the domain of the banking industry. Also more about the progress of AMEX)
6) Aditya Thackeray (Giveaway - The progress of the state and various schemes which are in existence, benefiting the society. Also, few of the measures which are being undertaken and true sense of unity amongst the people including changes required to be bought as a youth)
Its was a fair good experience to hear all of them discussing about various forms of topics & thought processes which are required to be either altered or modified or completely changed.
Further, there were few Panel Speakers of whose list has been enclosed below :-
All of these personnel shared their interesting point of views of their industries in which they belong to and ways in which the wrong or illness within it be improved.
In my suggestions, HUII '19 had good speakers sharing contextual content in their speeches as compared to HUII' 20. But still this time, speakers were great and were one of the topmost in their respective subject domains.
There was an event introduced by the management named "Ignite" which consisted on delegates sharing their innovative idea for startup out of which top 15 teams would be shortlisted and one team would be rewarded with funding out of those 15 for its idea. This was something which I admired the most in the two day conference which showed the kind of ideas being developed by delegates with their running business models. Indeed was great to experience the same.
Overall the conference was fun for some of them, event of learning for the rest and gathering of take away for all of them for sure. There are few suggestions which can make the conference even more better but in a way a two day conference may surely value add by networking with few of them out of those 450+ delegates around.
Kudos to the organizing committee and the entire team for successfully keeping up the event and managing those 450+ delegates and speakers.
A must try experience for those who wish to explore those four advantages and meet the brightest minds exploring different domains and subject areas and belonging from different paths of life.
