The harsh truth about building a coaching business during an economic downturn.

I wish I started my business when the economy was great, people had more money, and we had more people who would feel safe to invest in their personal, professional and business development.

The reality is quite different.

Here's my timeline.

In January 2023, I had an amazing career as a Software Engineer, making all the money, and living wherever I wanted to live.

I wanted to create more IMPACT!

So long story short, I started my career coaching business.

Picture this! I am a career coach for software engineers. If you're NOT in tech here's what's happening in tech right now, massive layoffs, crazy competition, huge fear of potential scarcity, and software engineers end up in a very tough financial situation.

So I had to sell high-ticket coaching programs to the people who either lost their jobs or were not quite sure if they are going to have income in the next 6 months.

If you had to have the worst-case business scenario there it was!

It was rough, it was tough, but I DID IT!

After I lost my job I decided NOT to look for a job and just focus on my mission and my business.

Here's what I learned.

  • Create connections and relationships.
  • Focus on challenging beliefs and misconceptions instead of making them feel good.
  • LISTEN to your customers and sell them what they WANT and provide them what they NEED.
