Harris Racing Day at Silverstone.

A Harris Associates corporate race day postponed since before lockdown finally took place on Friday as Managing Director Shaun Harris hosted a team of ten petrol heads with a day of racing supercars, at the renowned Silverstone circuit in Northampton.

The group were given an important safety briefing and tour which included the obligatory photos on the infamous podium and after a delicious lunch of champions the group headed to the pit lane. The weather conditions were windy yet dry and the group were split into two teams to race 3 different cars around the international track.?With only one other group at the start of the pit lane, the track was mostly clear for the whole session, meaning the drivers were able to fully channel their inner Hamilton or Verstappen around the track.

The cars they were able to take for a spin were the 400bhp BMW M2 competition, the Ferrari 430 and the Aston Martin Vantage, at a white knuckle-inducing 500 bhp! With instructors that were all competing racing drivers across a variety of formulas, the teams were given expert guidance around the track and allowed to drive full throttle, making for an adrenaline-fuelled day.

When the final scores were in the Team One winner and overall champion with near-perfect scores was Alex Gulliver-Roberts from Tarrent Group Ltd. The Team Two winner was Harris Associates' own Head of Marketing and Research and ex-grid and pit girl Chioma Ibe, with the highest Team Two score across all 3 supercars.?

In such a male-dominated sport, much like the property industry, receiving these scores was amazing. After an eventful day on the track, the drivers headed off in their respective cars which they all said now felt distinctly underwhelming! Managing Director Shaun Harris said?“After a 2-year wait, we were finally able to get out on the track, and it didn’t disappoint. I think it’s important to cultivate business relationships outside of the office and Silverstone was the ideal place for some camaraderie and competitiveness”.
