Harnessing the Power of Mastermind Groups for Your Leadership Development

In the dynamic landscape of leadership, where challenges evolve at the speed of innovation, the quest for continuous growth and development stands as an imperative. My personal Leadership Development has been a long journey that started in the oilfield inspection industry. Travelling extensively and spending many months every year on pipelay barges and in hotel rooms, I had tremendous opportunities to study leadership, coaching, and personal development (By choice). What made it so much more impactful to me was the opportunity to implement and practice what I learned on a daily basis among people from many different backgrounds and cultures.

My friend and mentor, Les Brown, said a long time ago:

“There is no such thing as coincidence. Coincidences are God’s way of staying anonymous.”

Regardless whether you are religious, spiritual, or an atheist, you may agree this quote shows that everything really happens for a reason.

Every person has times in their lives where they experience life enhancing, even life changing moments or events, and I have had my fair (?) share.

One of those pivotal moments in my life happened when someone, who was previously a fellow trainee in my first extensive coaching training program, lasting 2 years, invited me into a mastermind in early 2012. It was a structured mastermind about The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, a book by John C. Maxwell.

As a lifelong and eager learner, I gratefully accepted the offer which was also the catalyst for me to join the Maxwell Leadership Team in the same year.

To say that the invitation and subsequent participation in that mastermind had a positive influence and impact in my life, is a massive understatement.

Little did I know what was ahead, but my life changed completely a year later when I was invited to join John Maxwell with 150 other mentors from around the world to support the start of transformation in the beautiful country of Guatemala, which I have briefly written about in a previous edition about Values. (That is a keynote all by itself!)
