Harnessing the Law of Attraction for Recovery

Life often falls into a routine existence, with days blending into each other, leaving us feeling like we’re sleepwalking through existence. But there’s a powerful tool that can transform this autopilot life: the Law of Attraction.
About five years ago, I rediscovered this principle. Initially, during my early recovery from addiction, I didn’t give it much thought. Now, with 36 years of sobriety, I see its profound impact. The Law of Attraction, much like gravity, is a universal force that operates on the principle of ‘like attracts like.’ It’s always at work, whether we believe in it or not.
By focusing on our thoughts
I’ve witnessed the changes in my own life—better health, rewarding work, and meaningful relationships. Even on tough days, I’ve learned to redirect my thoughts to improve my emotional state.
Addiction can be a harsh reality, but it doesn’t have to be the end of the story. The Law of Attraction offers a path to recovery and a brighter future. If you’re seeking a new perspective, explore this law and let your emotions guide you to a happier, healthier life.
Here’s a simple way to get started.?Ask and It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks who share the teachings of Abraham, provide 22 processes to make the Law of Attraction work for you. The processes are designed to help you let go of any resistance you may be experiencing and to raise your vibration so that your energetic field is vibrating at the same level as what you wish to attract.
The book outlines what a “scale of emotions” looks like with Joy, Love, Empowerment, Freedom, and Appreciation being at the top, and Fear, Grief, Depression, Despair and Powerlessness being at the bottom. If you’re in active addiction, you are likely feeling powerless over your addiction, particularly since 12-Step programs reinforce this. It would be challenging to try to get and remain sober while being stuck in that energy. However, if you find a way to shift your energy to hopefulness
In 2018 I spoke about empowering addicts
Abraham Hicks also has a YouTube channel where you can get insights into the Law of Attraction.?
Loved ones who are living with the chaos of addiction will also benefit from applying the principles of the Law of Attraction and taking action with some of the processes to raise their own vibrations and get unstuck from a cycle of “trying to help” the addict they love. Often, they don’t understand that what they are doing is enabling the addict to remain stuck in addiction by doing things for them that they should be doing for themselves. This does nothing to empower the addict to make different choices.
