Hardwood Flooring
Do you know the difference between solid and engineered hardwood flooring?
As you navigate the hardwood flooring product line, you will encounter solid hardwood and engineered hardwood, and it is beneficial to know the difference between the two. That is what we will discuss in today's post, so follow along to find out more about these materials.
Take the time to browse the wood flooring line for details
Solid hardwood flooring is what you would expect. As the name implies, it is a single solid piece of wood, through and through, and offers a lifespan that can easily exceed 100 years or more, with outstanding durability and stunning visuals.
Engineered hardwood is a piece of natural solid wood attached to layers of plywood, which are arranged perpendicularly for outstanding stability and performance. The top wear layer protects against humidity and most daily wear, and it’s also a candidate for below-grade installation if the relative humidity is compatible with the brand.
No matter which material you choose, you will get many of the same species options, stain colors, and finish types, though you’ll have more options with solid hardwood. You can also choose finished and unfinished materials, with unfinished wood offering more stain colors that prefinished but taking longer to install.
