Since my childhood I was taught to attempt the hardest maths sum first, because once you attempt that one the next one seems easier to handle, therefore always go for the that ball kept at the maximum distance in the race and then come to the next farther which makes us feel the effort made in trying the farthest or the hardest as the right move.
“Doing the right thing” or "do the right thing" can sound a little similar depending on who is saying it. I told myself to do the next right thing. That included the connotation that “doing the right thing” was habit and striving to become rote. Does this matter really? Absolutely it does, because it is me who is doing, recommending and completing. To myself. When someone else tells, recommends , tells or desires completion it is entirely different. That includes reward outside of myself, in some fashion.
I was taught to “do the right thing” but the right thing is not an absolute. To me it is more a personal thing. Is it right to carry a pen home that I was using to hand write a report? In black and white probably not, but here in lies subjection, my own. I frankly do not care. More importantly to me was continuity, and then again. I ruefully tell the others, this is a great pen. Watch me, I am a pen thief. The look on someone’s face when you call attention to an appliance is amazing. Sometimes recognising value in a spoken word attached with a warning signals the importance of my “doing the right thing which seems the hardest of all”
The right thing involves a few factors before you act for it like asking for the truth in majority just get bullshits back and knowing the truth the majority stops here, they refuse it, in denial I mean to say to acknowledge the truth although this step is important, majority of the people just ignore it. Seeing those feelings you had, which all were made of bullshits after seeing the truth, sinking into a pond of darkness and majority just stops here and cries or walk away without knowing what were just belittling your little feelings
Doing the right thing often compromises our ability to get ahead or get away, at least temporarily, especially because the people we do the right things for do not appreciate our sacrifice, because they aren’t good people and therefore don’t behave like good people would, which is to seek to compensate you for your loss. Therefore, living in this dog eat dog world, full of cheaters, big and small, it gets hard to do the right thing. The more people who are wicked, the more intensely wicked people are, the harder it will get.
We are all familiar with the maxim, every action has equal and opposite reaction and what you sow, so shall you reap. The work done in a right way, is always hard. Doing it in right way, itself is the price paid for that and this gets nullified. While doing task using wrong means is easy because price which it has to paid, is like a loan. You will have to pay it later on. Example. Getting marks by studying here price paid is the hard work done. While, getting pass in an exam by copying is easy but it will not lead in increase of knowledge. And the person may not get desired job or may miss a promotion or similar consequences.
Let's say the right thing requires courage. Not having courage would be the reason. I'm not sure if you subscribe to the theory of multiple it's but they are another reason. While we believe we are one unified person, in reality we are divided in our head by each of our needs and wants individually screaming for attention. What they want have no consideration for our aims in life or what we believe is good for us. Every time we listen to these they get much stronger. Stay blessed! #kishoreshintre

4 年Your perspective is well appreciated. During my graduate education in India, the coaching was to do the hardest problem first as it carried more points. But, when I pursued my higher education In the US, the practice was to complete the more simple topics first though it was of lower scores. The rationale was to build confidence, which facilitates solving harder questions. Sometimes there are hidden clues built-in the less perplexing problems that help in answering, the more complex problems. Different perspectives in education, I guess.
