The Hardest Part About Being a Principal

I’ve always said that the hands-down hardest thing about being a principal is this:

You have to achieve results?through?other people.

You can have the most inspiring vision in the world, the most detailed plan, and the clearest systems.

But if you can’t?get your teachers and staff to align their thinking and actions with what you’re trying to achieve …

Well, you end up an unacceptable number of students who get left behind, a discouraging and even toxic culture, and nagging doubts about your abilities and effectiveness as a principal.

That’s why my upcoming?Buildership Summer Bootcamp?is focused on simple, yet incredibly powerful, strategies you can put into place?immediately?to:

  • Get your entire team on the same page from day 1
  • Help everyone immediately focus on (and commit to!) improvement
  • Establish a support system that helps teachers grow - without burning yourself out
  • Create built-in accountability so your team takes ownership of their results
  • Deliberately engineer a positive school culture
  • Get more done with less effort

Best of all, this bootcamp will NOT give you a lot of cool ideas that you won’t have time to implement, a bunch of plans to complete on your own, or a long list of MORE things to do.

We’ll do the work – together –?during this practical, action-focused bootcamp. In just 90 minutes a day, you’ll?knock critical items off your to-do list?– and be positioned to get your entire team aligned behind your vision?before students even walk in the door.

“The biggest overall victory is finally having everyone on the same page for the same purpose and with the same intentions. I don't have to spend time explaining why because everything is centered and anchored in the vision, mission and core values....The narrative has indeed shifted and learning is no longer about the teacher or the parent, but the focus is 100% on our learners. How are we transforming minds, growing learners and developing leaders each day? Personally seeing the sheer joy for teaching on my campus has been so exciting to see. I am deeply motivated to see things through, and having things in place, in writing and a team that I'm working with holding me accountable has been very refreshing…”
