Hard work is like stairs, never fails!

Hard work is like stairs, never fails!

Luck is an event which can be positive, negative or improbable. Ultimately luck is not in our hand. Do you agree? Now, let me tell you in a different way of destiny and karma, these two elements are fundamentals of the theory of karma. What can we learn from it? Simple learning of theory of karma that destiny is fixed. You’ll get fruits of your past deeds in this life. It is a given that present life’s karma determines your next life’s destiny or you may get peace from the cycle of birth.

However, if destiny is fixed then, I will get things at a certain time, then what is the need of karma is the obvious question that comes to mind. How can I know that whatever is happening in my life is written in my destiny? The essence of destiny is misunderstood in our life and some people believe that there is no need of karma, we will get fruits as per written in our destiny at a certain time. For example, sometimes students believe that they’ll clear the examination if it is written in their destiny, there is no need of reading and practicing and student leaves all that process in god's hand.

And they are failed to understand the essence of karma there. That is completely true that we will get whatever is written in our destiny. Yet, we need to understand that where destiny works and where karma?Getting a job is destiny but getting promotion in the job is belongs to our karma. Similarly, buying a house in a city is a destiny but sustaining this is belongs to our karma. Getting rich is destiny but investing and making more money from it belongs to our karma.

Of course the essence of this is, we will definitely get whatever is written in our destiny but how to use those resources is belong to our karma. The same thing is with luck. Similar to destiny, luck is not in our hand but we are so much emphasis on luck. Luck will work according to its certain time and synchronization but karma, hard work is in our hand we can control it. So, why we are taking it easily?

Also if you are completely depending on your luck then at one moment you may get worried about the result. While choosing luck you indirectly want to control result of the event which is not in your hand. If the result is not according to your expectation you start blaming luck. Luck always supports who dare to do hard work. Hence, the answer to your question is both are important in life. Luck and hard work both complement each other. Do hard work, luck will find you itself.

Let me quote from a verse from Shrimad Bhagwat Gita to explain the role of Luck.

????????? ??? ????? ???? ? ??????????? ????????? ??????????? ???? ??????? ?????????18.14??

adhi?h?hāna? tathā kartā kara?a? cha p?ithag-vidham

vividhā?h cha p?ithak che?h?ā daiva? chaivātra pa?chamam ??18.14??

Now according to his interpretation of above verse, there are five factors which contribute to the Success of an action/work. 1) adhi?h?hāna? :- Environment. The environment/place in which action is being performed. And the kartā :- The Doer of action i.e The level of skill set/knowledge one possess for that work and kara?a? :- The resources ; with which the work is being performed. Also che?h?ā :- The process; by which the action is being performed. And finally daiva?:- Divine Intervention i.e luck therefore it’s obvious that without the proper combination of above factors one can’t be successful.

Therefore, the point is one should focus on the 80% part not on the 20% because that is beyond your control. You can choose the right time/right place/right efforts/right process/right resources still you may be successful you may not be.But probability increases when you get 80% factors correct; not by doing nothing/ not up to the mark and believing that I will be lucky. Even you fail after 80% don’t forget that hard work always pays in some form or other at some point of life. It’s a journey called life, enjoy it! Cheers!
