Harbour Lights

I just received this from someone that has today achieved 40 years at the firm. I am posting this because it has made my day, week, year !!! It's not about awards, or listings or even big case wins. This is why you get up in the morning. I am so proud to be a part of something that engenders this kind of feeling. Bless you dear author:

Subject: I made it !!

Please forgive the London wide email because a lot of you will not know me , but 40 years ago today I arrived at Knollys House as a scruffy school leaver to start my first day at Ince . I joined a small team of professional indemnity lawyers to be their gofer . The team had two secretaries and they were asked their opinion about me and the one other candidate for the job. They told me later that I got the nod because I had fewer spots than the other boy !

In those days we had no computers and no time recording . The only people left now from those early days are Peter Rogan , the Chetwood brothers , the ever youthful Paul Herring ( newly qualified then ) and the still bearded Derek Boyd.

I played football , cricket , rugby and hockey ( only once !) including a début match against HFW which remains to this day one of the dirtiest games of football I have ever played.Cricket matches at Dulwich with Sayer and a coachload of spectators from the office were summer highlights , as were the May balls.

Great friendships forged and memories of wonderful people , some sadly no longer with us. Ince gave people opportunities and I am so grateful for mine. Thanks to all past and present for a wonderful working life and maybe a bit more to go !

Best

I only came in on a 6 month contract, ended up staying over 20 years. Great memories.

What a lovely post! Definitely reminiscent of my times at Ince in the good old days!
