Happy Woman's Day
Who is a woman who has inspired your career? #IWD25
For most of us, the first name that comes to mind is "Mom." And for me, it’s no different.
My mother is the one who has truly inspired me.
She used to wake up at 3 AM every day to start cooking. Our family ran a small hotel in our village, and by 4 AM, the tea had to be ready for the early customers. I still remember how people in our village would start their day with a cup of tea from our shop.
But before she could even begin cooking, she had another task—fetching water. There was no direct water supply, so she had to walk 200-300 meters to draw water from a well. Sometimes, she used a hand pump to pull water from a borewell. This was her daily routine—hauling heavy pots of water back to the hotel before starting her long day of cooking.
By 7 AM, she would have prepared idly and dosa for breakfast service. In the afternoon, she would make vada or bonda, and at night, she would prepare a light tiffin. And after all of that, she would still wash all the plates and utensils herself.
She did all this with one purpose—to educate me and my brother. She worked tirelessly, cooking the best food she could, just to earn enough for our education.
One day, I saw her hands—they were covered in scratches and rough from years of hard work. It was the first time I truly understood the sacrifices she had made. But she never once complained. Thanks to her efforts, my brother and I received a good education, worked for a few years, and eventually, I started my own business.
When my business became stable, I insisted she close the hotel. At first, she didn’t want to stop working, but after much convincing, she finally agreed. Now, she stays at home and still supports us in her own way.
She didn’t just teach me hard work—she also taught me the value of family. She always wanted to keep our family together, and because of her, we still live as a happy joint family.
I have carried these values with me in my own life:
? Work hard, no matter what.
? Never break relationships.
Mothers never give up on their children. They are the queens, the teachers, the gods, and the very foundation of our lives. Yet, we often fail to recognize their sacrifices.
I love you, Mom. Without you, I would never have achieved anything.
