Happy tears, unless you step on their toe by mistake on the way in
Some days producers struggle to find me when they need a doggie sound bite... I am going to explain how to reach me as in the last week two producers made the mistake of assuming I would be checking my own Twitter feed...
Email me and I will send you my mobile, if you have my mobile - don't phone me! I don't pick up unless I know you already. Text me and then I'll store your number and I will know you are not wanting to survey me about my white goods or insurance etc.
I love talking about dogs, even about them crying and I am kicking myself I missed Times Radio and another one earlier in the week due to not looking at my Twitter until it was too late.
Now someone has proved dogs cry tears of joy when reunited, can we try to find someone to release our best friends from the tyranny of breeding slavery in the puppy farms, the threat of being stolen to be a breeding slave or the possibility of someone experimenting on them in a laboratory - or even getting their ears cut off because some knobhead thinks is makes them look more edgy?
We've established scientifically that dogs love us so much they cry happy tears when reunited. Now lets give them a society with laws in place that accepts them as family not just things.
Kept Animal Bill still needs its third reading, just saying MPs, when you go back to work after your holidays can that be on the top of your to do list please - it'll be the third sitting of parliament that it's been kicking around in and it's so very close to being law. So many good things in there. Let's not remember it as the Kept Getting Delayed Animal Bill...
I asked Michael Gove, my MP, what the two leadership candidates had to say about the bill - he want off to ask and hasn't emailed me back - but then declared support for Labrador owning Rishi, which I think is the answer. But he did say he was supporting him but not expecting a cabinet position, so not really sure who else to lobby?
Maybe Zac Goldsmith? Guess he's going to still be the environment bod whoever gets in? Zac's mum is a Dogs Today reader... could ask her to give him a prod. But then Rishi and Zac have both been in the magazine already talking about their dogs. Should I perhaps offer Liz Truss a chance to tell us about her dogs... does she have one? One things certain, Dilyn's a tough act to follow as first dog.
Anyway, off to check Twitter to see if anyone else is trying to sniff me out! Ever get the feeling someone is looking over your shoulder at work - yes, this is work! Cool isn't it!
In case you are a producer or anyone wanting to sneakily break through to ask me about when my house insurance renews, my email is [email protected] - write URGENT MEDIA REQUEST in the subject line or just comment on my Facebook that you're trying to find me and I'm ignoring you on Twitter and someone will spot it! DO NOT send me a Facebook message if we're not already friends as it will end up in that really weird inbox that no one can ever see.
Wonder what the next big dog story is going to be? We already had someone in Grimsby biting a police dog. Amazed no one got me in to comment on that one! He got 8 months for that, that's the power of change for you. Used to be just criminal damage the same as snapping off a wing mirror on a police car. Finn's Law made it a criminal offence to hurt police dogs and police horses. That's the power of social media and us all calling for change. And a really brave policeman writing a book...
