Happy St. Patrick's Day - Lucky Plans
"May the roof above us never fall in. And may the friends gathered below it never fall out."
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all the Irish celebrating today, and all the wannabe Irish celebrating as well!
The symbol of this day and Ireland typically brings us to the Shamrock and its' 'lucky' cousin the four leaf clover. It is said that due to the rarity of the four leaf clover it is a symbol of luck and is often associated with the luck of the Irish. Rarity and Luck are synonymous with one another.
What piece does luck play in planning, markets, your goals and dreams, and your financial future? None.
Relying on luck without proper planning for the volatility we are seeing now is simply a bad strategy. Trying to time market movement, beat market results, and get to where you want to go while being able to rest at night is similar to walking into a casino and hoping to come out ahead. Eventually, the house always wins.
Luck, should not play a part in any plans. Like the 'overnight success', luck is something that doesn't just happen and should never be relied upon. Having a plan, challenging the plan against good and bad times, ensuring it can stand the ebbs and flows of the world, sticking to it knowing you are heading down a path much further away than today, and eventually achieving all your hopes and dreams, now that's a Lucky Plan!
