So today is National Siblings Day. I know it's one of those kinds of made-up holidays. But it's a good one. I know I for one don't acknowledge my siblings and how much they mean to me nearly enough.
The holiday was actually "invented" by Claudia Evart. She had lost her siblings at an early ages. At some point, she realized she would never be able to share anything with them again and profoundly felt their losses. She felt this bond was so special and deserved recognition.
So the message we can take from that is we should never take our siblings for granted. We should never miss an opportunity to let them know how much we love them and how thankful we are to have them in our lives. Because we never know how much time we will have together.
I think one of the greatest ways to celebrate your sibling bond is to travel together. Often our siblings live far away from us. Even when they live close, their lives are likely busy and full which makes getting together challenging.
Taking a trip together allows us to focus on that relationship and to reconnect with our sibling. It's amazing quality time focused solely on enjoyment and just being in each other's company. Depending on what suits you and your siblings best, you could choose a relaxing, laid back destination or something more adventurous.
The important thing is to focus on being together and making memories. If you don't have anything in the works right now, get busy planning a trip or trips to spend some time with your siblings. It's important.
