Happy or Sad? - It's All In Our Own Hands..

Happy or Sad? - It's All In Our Own Hands..

You don't agree, is it? Yet you are here to read it. Isn't it? Because somewhere deep inside even if reluctantly you want to believe in it.

OK. Let us do an exercise. Can you open your right hand? Just open it as you read it. Fix your eyes there and focus. Think of an unhappy sad event from your life. Go there in the moment and then look at your mini-version, a tiny real you sitting in your palm and looking down. A laid back posture. Sad and bad. You are looking at a sad version of yourself. Because there is a sad memory that has cropped up in your mind. Some memory that has stolen your energy just by making an appearance on the skies of your mind and it has formed that sad mini-version of you in your hand. Keep looking. Your mini-version has a lot expression. A bit gloomy eyes..and now feel. How is your body feeling. It has changed . You are feeling a little low. Isn't it. Well, stop now. Let the image slowly get evaporated. Let your palm be clear.

Now, get straightened. Focus. Done?

And now look at the mini-self of you dancing and jumping and singing on your palm. Keep watching and come back to read in a  couple of moments. Yes, you have brought a memory beautiful and that is what you are now watching. Wow! A dancing, jumping and singing you..

Look at that 'You' looking up at you and making you smile.. Aha!! Notice the feelings. You are feeling so good and happy. Because now the memory from the skies of mind that has developed into an image on your hand is a Happy Memory.. and you were able to bring it out at your will.. Look at your hand. Your mini-self continues to dance and you are feeling those rhythmic pressures of tiny feet on the soft surface of your hands too. Trust me I am feeling so good as in my mind I am doing the same exercise.

And I am thinking. Let me make both my mini-versions be there on two different hands. Happy one on the left and the sad one on the right and let me see the happy one jumping from my right hand to the left one and go and tap on the shoulder of the 'sad' one and ask him to leave it all and come out of that sad state. Yes, it is happening. I can see both.. and the sad one too has got up... the eyes have started sparkling a little joy. The happy one is holding his hands and making him dance.. Slowly the reluctance is evaporating. Wow, not more sadness.. Both are happy and I see them merging.. Indeed, I see them merging. There is only one now. Just one. Happier one who has accepted the sad one and took him in his fold. And I wonder - were they ever two? Anyways. Doesn't matter. What matters is that in this moment I am feeling good & joyous. Well, I pick up the tiny version of me with my hand and put it in my heart and say out loud "Wow"... ( some response from the kitchen out there.. ha, ha.. ) ..

It is good to know that in spite of my not telling you have visualised yourself too as I narrated in the just concluded para..

Can you see it, hear it and feel it that literally our happiness and sadness is in our hands. Every moment turns into a memory. Let us create happier memories because then we can have more to choose from. It doesn't take more than a moment to imagine and create happiness on the palm of our hands.

Happy or Sad - It is in our hands..

When I told a friend yesterday evening that I am going to share this experiment on Linkedin as a part of my daily post, he cautioned me:" Then what are you going to share in your training modules."  I had looked at him and said, " I will create some more.. Yes, I keep creating happier memories like the one I created from my experience in a lab where I had gone yesterday morning for my Sugar-test. It has come normal. You don't get it when you get into habit of practicing happiness. Do you? Well, shall share it some other time.. Have a Happy Day.. !!

Congrats on this interesting article/share, Ramesh Sood! Hailing from a very humble family in a (still) remote village, hardly having one full meal a day, like many others I know the pangs of the poor. Yet IMHO, no amount of money, material wealth and/or position of power and authority can *ever* fetch happiness without which living a Life has no meaning! Happiness or sadness are not essentially physically oriented. A brave soldier dying in battle field may have enjoyed a "happy end" having done his job to his entire "satisfaction". All athletes know the true meaning of "happiness" and "sadness"! ?

Rajesh Sood, like Kavita has rightly put, you have indicated that replacing negative thoughts with the positive ones is a possibility which all of us have to experiment whether through the exercise you have mentioned or otherwise. Your left and right hand reference is also all about acknowledging the happy and sad facets of life and trying to balance living.

There are these two things- speaking about something and writing about it. The latter often misses out on non-verbal and paralanguage component. But kudos to you Ramesh Sood, you created an imagery that was rich and captured all the details. Good piece of writing with thoughts very well organised.

Ha Ha Ha... I did not land here because I do not believe it BUT because I totally agree to it. I have personally experienced things turning to good better best, simply by replacing unhealthy thoughts with healthy thoughts. Great piece of writing Ramesh Sood Ji. :)
