Happy Purim to those celebrating! And there is a lot to celebrate as Israel is opening up as the vaccine is showing its effectiveness. For readers unfamiliar with the holiday, it is one in which people dress up in costumes. This Time piece best explains the tradition:

"Traditionally, costumes and masks are worn to school, synagogue and carnivals on Purim. This is in part due to the notion of Esther concealing her true identity as a Jew out of fear, but it’s also a continuation of the way the story of Esther is “topsy-turvy,” according to Krasner. “The notion that everything is upside-down is very much a part of the tradition. Masquerading is something that’s been associated with Purim for hundreds of years,” he says."

Topsy-turvy. Indeed, sounds like our lives during the pandemic.

On March 8th, we will celebrate International Women’s Day, honoring the achievements of women throughout history and across the globe. Recently, Israel was nominated the best country for women entrepreneurs, according to the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs for 2020.
