This happy place!

Imagine hosting an event for over 50,000 people, young, old, abled and disabled from across the planet and delighting them relentlessly 365 days a year for 60 years? Add to that a sense of magic which revives the weary from the stressed out and always on world.

A recent trip to Disney reduced my 50 something ‘grown-up-ness’ to the childlike spirit of my young kids. A chance meeting with an employee reinforced the power of a legacy of a vision created by Walt Disney. Employees are asked to stretch their imagination to keep the dream ongoing. The DNA is indeed palpable from the opening countdown to the last firework.

What does it mean for leadership?

The Disney machine which consistently aims to make people happy, never stops and the customer it serves is right at the centre of everything that it does. Huge attention to detail delivers incredible value; a guiding principle for customers and employees.

Go on - make Mickey proud!

Great post, thanks Pia. Disneyland is amazing, we loved it. Went there in 98 with my then girlfriend, now wife. No kids as an excuse!

Couldn't agree more! My one year old LOVED it's a small world and danced throughout the ride. It turned out to be way better as a whole family experience than I'd ever imagined. Fast passes rock too!

Hi Pia, it's funny, last night my family were watching one of our holiday videos from Disney a couple of years ago. Specifically, the 'It's a Small World' ride - do you know the one? It is probably one of the oldest rides, but still one of the most popular. Where other companies might be tempted to rip out the old and go all hi-tech, this ride is well-maintained, always has long queues and is a delight for all ages. The Disney parks in Florida are clean, customer service is amazing and the experience is worth the money, which is why we'll go back again... and again...
