Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone. Since I'm travelling for work this Sunday, I decided to say hello for the first time since the New Year has begun. I'm a little bit late, but hopefully everyone has settled down a bit and is looking forward to the New Year. I felt violently sick in the last few months on 2024 and it took me some time to regain my strength. I've been busy writing, editing, working with my clients on new projects and resting enough so as to not fall sick again.

To Kickstart the Newsletter for this year, I want to begin by sharing some of my favourite quotes, in no particular order. I also pledge to be around here more often than I have, last year.

Take care everyone and have a great January!

Here are the quotes I love :

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”

- Albert Camus

"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” —Ruth Bader Ginsburg

" We are all in the gutter. Some of us are looking at stars."

- Oscar Wilde

“If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.”

- Frank Zappa

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

" Like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free."

- Leonard Cohen

"What I have to get over- The idea that the value of love rises as the self dwindles"

-Susan Sontag

To work we have the right, but not to the fruits thereof.”

- Bhagvad Gita

He who knows he has enough is rich. Perseverance is a sign of will power. He who stays where he is endures. To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.”

― Lao Tzu

“When people show you who they are, believe them the first time."

- Maya Angelou

“I didn’t want any flowers, I only wanted

to lie with my hands turned up and be utterly empty. How free it is, you have no idea how free.”

- Sylvia Plath

"Were all stars to disappear or die,

I should learn to look at an empty sky"

-W.H. Auden

“You become a writer by writing. There is no other way. So do it. Do it more. Do it again. Do it better. Fail. Fail better. I think it’s a good idea, especially when you’re younger, you keep your hand in by writing something every day. So I recommend it, but it’s another one of those recommendations that I myself have been unable to follow.”

- Margaret Atwood

"It never occurred to me that our lives, until then so closely interwoven, could unravel and separate over a thing like that. But the fact was, I suppose, there were powerful tides tugging us apart by then, and it only needed something like that to finish the task. If we'd understood that back then-who knows?-maybe we'd have kept a tighter hold of one another.”

- Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let me Go.

“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”

- The Teachings of Buddha

They’ll tell you you’re too loud, that you need to wait your turn and ask the right people for permission. Do it anyway.”

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We’ve been taught that silence would save us, but it won’t.”

— Audre Lorde

“More and more women are realizing that only collective strength and action will allow us to be free to fight for the kind of society that meets basic human needs.”

— Roxanne Dunbar

Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” - Maya Angelou

"Trans people are extraordinary, strong, intelligent, persistent and resilient. We have to be. And we will not stand for the picking and choosing of rights. We still have hope."

-Grace Dolan-Sandrino

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
