It is always a joy to be part of the beginning of a New Year celebration because this brings feelings of hope, health, and happiness. It is a celebration of the ending of one year and the beginning of another. We live in an uncertain world, and the new year brings both uncertainties and joy. Human beings have progressed in the areas of education, research, development, and entrepreneurship to eliminate uncertainties and minimize the risks in our lives. The research, development, and motivation of researchers to explore what is on the moon have shown that the faces of the moon really are craters. We can follow the path of a hurricane and predict when and where it will land, alert people about tornados, and predict the direction of the economy. Although we have progressed from the Stone Age to the Space Age, we still encounter uncertainties and risks. Therefore, we need to decide whether to set a goal in this uncertain world to increase our chances of success in life by preparing a plan for the coming year or if we should just live with the flow.
The most common argument around the new year is people set goals and do not have a plan for accomplishing them, or that they have goals and plan but never put any effort into implementing a plan to accomplish their goals. Imagine you are in a boat in the choppy seas of the Atlantic Ocean. Do you like to go with the flow of the ocean, or do you set a goal and develop a plan to arrive at the destination? If you go with the flow, you may end up on one of the beautiful islands of the Caribbean or be lost at sea. If you had goals and implemented the plan, chances are you would have reached the intended destination.
When we operate in an uncertain environment, we do not need fear because, as human beings, we have proven that we can survive in an uncertain environment and achieve success. For example, you may commute daily to work in a metropolitan city and must be at the office at eight in the morning, which means that your goal is to be at the office by eight. Your plan includes setting the alarm to wake up at six, eating breakfast, checking traffic conditions, and selecting the best route to be at the office by eight. Goals are what you want to accomplish, and the plan includes strategies for achieving these goals. If you set goals for what you like to accomplish during the next year and prepare a plan, you will be able to succeed in life. The goals for individual success must include personal growth, health, and happiness.
Personal growth is critical for human beings to succeed in life. Individual personal growth begins with higher hopes than just meeting biological or survival needs, and it should be built on solid values and beliefs. Growth and development that goes beyond primary needs benefit individuals and society.
Our health is critical for achieving our desired personal growth. We can manage our personal growth if we understand that there are three elements involved in our personal health: (1) physical, (2) mental, and (3) emotional. Any deficiencies in one of these elements will impact your ability to achieve personal growth.?
With a desire for personal growth and clear goals and plans, a healthy life leads to happiness. Happiness differs for individuals or groups due to such variables as genetic makeup, level of learning, emotional issues, values, and beliefs. However, we can define individual happiness as the mental and emotional state that results in the sensation that you are living a good life. Happiness is a positive feeling of joy, success, accomplishment, and living a meaningful, satisfying life.
Everyone has hopes. Set clear goals, set a timeline for achieving them, develop a plan for accomplishing them, evaluate them periodically, and change your plan if it is not working.?Enjoy 2023!
