Happy new day !

What is it about the new year, about January 1, that makes us believe that the world will change at the stroke of midnight. That we will be different, circumstances will be different, the world will be different, just because the calendar on the wall is now different?

After all - it is just an arbitrary day - decided by a few to be the day 1 of the year. And many cultures, including several in India, celebrate new year’s on a different day.

What then happens on Jan 1?  

What happens is, it is we who choose that it is time to renew our hopes, aspirations and resolutions. 

Read this thought recently. Resonated deeply with me.

We are our choices. Just like our past was an outcome of our choices then, our future too will be casted out of our choices that are yet to be made. 

Imagine, if we wake up every morning with the same zest of a new beginning. What would that do to us? If we stop resting on our laurels, or be limited by our mistakes - and consider everyday as a new day and a new opportunity to make new choices, everyday can be a celebration. 

The power we feel on Jan 1 - the power to make changes, alter ways, renew relationships, energize our resolutions, ignite new beginnings - can be available with us every single day :)
