Shauna is deeply committed to bridging the gap between corporations and local stakeholders to foster economic development and environmental awareness across Canada. She firmly believes that our nation's future is best served by respecting the interests of all stakeholders, including corporations, government, wildlife, and community members.
One of the core missions at Altalma Foundation is to improve health in Canada through sustainable clean water solutions. It is shocking to realize that over 800 million people worldwide, many from Indigenous and traditional communities, lack access to basic water and sanitation. Here in Canada, First Nations communities represent more than 50 nations and speak 50 Indigenous languages, yet many have lived under boil water advisories for decades. For too many, collecting water and boiling it to avoid water-borne illnesses has become a routine necessity.
Altalma Foundation is dedicated to changing this reality. Their goal is to provide First Nations Reserves and Indigenous Communities with the education, training, skills, and infrastructure needed for clean water and renewable energy projects. Their comprehensive programs include consulting services for the full lifecycle of these projects and educational programs to enhance leadership skills and technical knowledge in water/wastewater management and renewable energy.
