Happy National Book Day

Today is National Book Day, and to say books - and the people who've written those books - have changed my life would be a massive understatement.

Here are 6 books that changed my life.

Tom Peters - his book In Search of Excellence created opportunities for outside insights to be brought into companies, created the opportunity for authors and speakers and consultants to do the good work they do.

Bob Burg - his book Winning Without Intimidation (since repackaged and revised in Adversaries Into Allies) helped me see you could win without being a jerk.

Kirk Weisler - Dog Poop Initiative taught me that taking the initiative to pick up the crap, even when it smells and even when it wasn't me who put it there, makes all the difference.

Marcus Buckingham - First Break All The Rules was the first book I read that gave me permission to do things differently.

Seth Godin - Unleashing the Idea Virus taught me it was best to earn permission to market to people, not just put them on blast.

Steve Farber - Radical Leap was a simple yet powerful fable that came into my life at just the right time.

Tim Sanders - Love is the Killer App gave me permission to share my love at work.

Books are what open the mind.? Thanks for reminding us and your list...agree.? Two of them i have not read. I'll say there are so many more books I could add to the list but instead I'll challenge myself and everyone else to be more committed to long-form reading. It can be too easy to fall into the habit of short-form reading...articles, etc. from the internet, magazines, etc. but it's the long-form reading found in books that pushes our thinking.? ?Thanks?

Phil- I was recently introduced to the books by Bob Burg and I wholeheartedly endorse them. They teach via a story and are guaranteed to leave a positive impression on the reader. I just ordered his most recent book and it’s my hope that one day I get it autographed.
