Good afternoon you beautiful being, and welcome to our little corner of inspiration.
Where we share some easy ways to improve your day (yes, even Mondays).
Needing space.?
This is a topic that has been coming up a lot in conversation recently, so thought I’d address the elephant in the room for us all.?
Wanting your own space is normal. At home, at work.?
We were not designed to be all systems go 100% of the time! We need rest and we need space to recharge. Mentally and physically.?
As a mum of 2, I can relate to the guilt that can sometimes come from wanting to be on your own (even if for 2 minutes whilst you brush your teeth!), as a working woman, I can relate to the pressure and guilt that comes from wanting to do your job right, support your teams and deliver on a piece of work that fulfils you.?
But do you want to know a secret? Nothing will work unless you do. And in order for us to be our best, we need down time. Disconnect from the challenges of everyday living and re-connect with the pleasures and joy of life.
Here are a few ways to recharge:
Meditation (mindfulness, presence…)
Whatever you want to call it. But taking time off your busy day to just be present has immense benefits to your mental and physical health.?
Reduces stress, increased focus and concentration, improves your immune system, reduces blood pressure, enhances cognitive function, and improves your emotional regulation (just to name a few).?
Perhaps you have not had any experience with mindfulness yet, or you may have tried it and thought it wasn’t for you. I would encourage you to give it a go :)
You don’t need plenty of time to begin with, a few moments of looking at the window or purposely focus on your meal / cup of tea can do.?
You can also try Insight Timer r, free app (has some paid upgrades) that has plenty of meditations fit for every purpose and suitable for all levels! - but there are many others out there (like Calm available too!).
Fix your gut, improve your mind (as Natalie Louise Burrows says)
Did you know that 90% of body's serotonin involved in mood management is produced in the gut?
Following a balanced diet that provides the nutrients needed for you severely impacts your happiness levels.?
A well-balanced diet provides:
There are plenty of free recipe libraries out there, chefs to follow and nutritionist who can help you.?
These are some of my favourites:

Fun.
When was the last time you did something for the sheer pleasure of enjoyment?
Author Catherine Price (author, speaker) has written a wonderful book called The Power of Having Fun, which breaks down the benefits of introducing fun as a daily practice AND how to do so.?
My favourite learning is that when Connection + Flow + Playfulness are combined a huge phenomenon happens: we experience TRUE FUN. That moment when times seems to sit still and fly at the same time, when we are so immersed and enjoying what we do that we lose track of time, of ourselves; we are present, we feel free and energised. And as a result we feel refreshed, energised and recharged! - you can get her book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Power-Fun-happy-healthy-life/dp/1787635937
