HAPPY LAW DAY 2020

HAPPY LAW DAY! Yes, there is an official, federally recognized day to honor the rule of law by which we live. May 1 each year, since President Eisenhower made it so. The law states in part: "Law Day, U.S.A., is a special day of celebration by the people of the United States— (1) in appreciation of their liberties and the reaffirmation of their loyalty to the United States and of their rededication to the ideals of equality and justice under law in their relations with each other and with other countries...." The Law Day 2020 theme is “Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Democracy: The 19th Amendment at 100.” Voting is amazingly important and adaptable. More and more, we see people voting in person early, and by mail. Voting booths are even showing up in jails. Changing times demand accommodations. Just think about how many elections are won or lost by a few votes. It is daunting at times. Many election results are so close to call, that recounts are even ordered by the courts, from time to time. Voting…another right not to ever take for granted!
