Growing up in a working-class family, the significance of today's celebration has always been deeply ingrained in me. I vividly recall moments from my childhood when my father returned home from work, tears of frustration and despair in his eyes, after being unjustly dismissed due to his political beliefs.
The company demanded he work grueling 15-hour shifts with no extra pay, a demand that stripped away his dignity and left him feeling helpless. These memories serve as a stark reminder of the exploitation and injustice faced by working-class individuals.
Today, as we commemorate Labour Day, I honor the resilience and sacrifices of my father and countless others who have fought tirelessly for fair treatment and justice in the workplace. Their legacy inspires me to continue advocating for a world where every worker is valued, respected, and treated with the dignity they deserve. Little bit more details about today.
?? Today is May Day, also known as Labour Day, a time to honor the historic struggles and victories of the labor movement. As we enjoy the upcoming bank holiday on Monday, it's crucial to remember the sacrifices made by countless individuals who fought for the rights and dignity of workers around the world.
"The first May Day celebration occurred on May 1, 1886, when 80,000 industrial workers went on strike demanding an eight-hour workday in Chicago.
The strike continued for days, and on May 4, a bomb went off in Haymarket Square after a labor activist meeting. The bomb killed one police officer, and both police and activists were injured and died in the violence that broke out after the explosion...." The link to this article is below.
?? The eight-hour workday, safe working conditions, and fair wages that many of us take for granted today were hard-won victories achieved through the tireless efforts of those who came before us. It's a reminder of the power of collective action and the importance of standing up for justice and equality in the workplace.

??♀????? While we celebrate and enjoy the long weekend, let's also take a moment to reflect on the ongoing challenges faced by workers everywhere. From wage inequality to precarious employment, there is still much work to be done to ensure a fair and just society for all.
?? Let's use this day to recommit ourselves to the principles of solidarity, empathy, and social justice. By honoring the legacy of May Day and continuing to advocate for the rights of workers, we can build a brighter and more equitable future for generations to come.
Thank you
