Happy International Women's Day - Jailene Feliciano.

Happy International Women's Day!

Throughout March, Panter, Panter, and Sampedro will be highlighting the intelligent and dedicated women who keep our personal injury law firm among the top personal injury law firms in South Florida.

Today, we spotlight Jailene Feliciano who has served as attorney Mitch Panter's secretary for almost 14 months. As a prospective law student, Jailene cherishes the hands-on experience she gets while working with Mitch. She assists him with his Pre-Suit and Litigation (LIT) files, so he is very clear on the position he takes on a case and explains which precedent he refers to when it comes to a LIT file. He breaks down terms and explains the logic behind the what, why, and how of each case. Jailene's favorite moments are when Mitch calls from his office, “Jailene, come here, this is a teachable moment". That is when she knows he is going to impart the wisdom that she will be taking with her to law school.

Jailene is involved in various social causes, including MMIW - Missing Murdered Indigenous Women (mmiwusa.org), Autism Awareness, The Trevor Project, Miami Rescue Mission Center for Women and Children, The International Organization for Migration, and UN Women.

"Women’s issues, as well as Mental Health/Disability issues hit close to home. It is important to discuss the role women play in everyone’s daily lives. I am a Latina with Caribbean and Hispanic roots. More notably, I am Taino and my ancestry is colored with the tribes of the Caribbean and Latin America. Since the beginning of colonization, Indigenous Women have been murdered and gone missing without a trace. They are not given particular attention by the media or by local law enforcement as white women do. As a woman, it is our duty to support all women’s causes, especially the ones that do not get as much attention. Without a woman’s role, little girls do not have a direction that teaches resilience, independence, and adeptness. We see that all over the world, femicide is taking place and causing women and girls to become displaced within their own borders; but, femicide does not stop within their respective countries. Violence against women is a long-winded issue, which is why it is important to develop and maintain policies that maximize the likelihood of a woman/girl’s survival (i.e., immigration, housing, gender equality, etc.). Living in the U.S. may cause some of us to become oblivious to these issues and not be able to recognize when violence against women is occurring in our country, as well. Additionally, Mental Health and Mental Disability are something that affects everyone. But the causes I chose to highlight are the ones most often neglected," says Jailene Feliciano.

Jailene also enjoys arts, crafts, dancing, and podcasts. Her favorite activity is exercising on the beach, and her hidden talents include singing and songwriting.

We are privileged to have Jailene on our team. The offices of Panter, Panter, and Sampedro would not be the same without her. Join us in celebrating Jailene in the comments.

A true asset to the the the firm. Congratulations Miss. Feliciano. Happy Women’s Day!?
