International Women’s Day

Founded more than a century ago, 8th March marks International Women's Day. A global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

At TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring we know that diversity, including gender diversity, is an underlying indicator of a healthy and inclusive culture, and we are committed to achieving a healthy and diverse workforce. We currently have 24% female representative across the business, 14% of which are leaders! We recognise that more can be done to diversify our workforce and we will continue to strive for equity by:

• Raising awareness against unconscious bias
• Celebrating achievements across our business in an equitable way
• Ensuring our recruitment, development and promotion processes remain inclusive

This month, to honour women inside and outside of the workplace, we invited our colleagues to wear purple, come together as a team over tea, coffee... and cake! We will also be sharing a collection of Diversity awareness courses with our entire workforce. Today we have also spotlighted some of our amazing females across the business.

Our Head of HR Heidi Wentworth-Foster, is very passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion and shared with us her thoughts on our activities today:

"Equality, diversity and inclusion in general has always, and will always, be a passion of mine both professionally and personally. I will always strive to self- educate, do better and to learn more on what we can do as a company in this space. As a mother of 2 girls, gender equality has become even more pertinent on a personal level as I watch them grow.

It is fantastic when we take the time to recognise and value differences amongst our colleagues and the positive impact this has on our business. I am proud to be part of a business that is committed to equal opportunity for all - we have many talented colleagues across the business who excel in their profession!"
