International Day for People with a Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally on 3 December. It aims to promote public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.  

This day allows us to share our commitment and stories of empowerment related to inclusion of people with disability within the workplace. I want to share and celebrate the extraordinary contribution and leadership shown by Mitchell here at Y Whittlesea as founder of our Men’s Shed. He has inspired us all with his work and commitment to this project which he says is like having another family. Please take a moment to watch the video and I implore everyone out there who look to employ others, to please look at giving someone with a disability a role within your organisation. Creating a diverse and inclusive culture only adds to its richness and drives creativity and innovation.
