For me, happiness and gratitude comes hand in hand.
On a wonderful day like this where we celebrate international day of happiness, I am filled with gratitude to be reminded of things that I sometimes take for granted.
First gratitude is for starting the new year with a big bang. I am grateful to be able to conduct a strengths teambuilding training in Penang for a MNC company in January. That day left a deep imprint on me.
It was filled with learning and inspiration for me too as I share the power of the language and the lens of strengths when you personalize and activate it for yourself and your team.
I finished the training with a profound sense of gratitude for the privilege to do the work that I do and to see people enabling their own transformation.
To be a part of the process is deeply humbling.
Second gratitude is for my country Singapore. I have been away for some months now. I have always been very proud to be a Singaporean.
Somehow the pride I have for my country swells as the days I spend away from it increases. What a privilege it is to be a Singaporean and in this challenging time, my country has rose to the occasion to care for its people.
That peace of mind that comes with it is deep as I am assured of the safety and comfort of my family and loved ones.
Being the founder of For Our Children has always been something that gives me deep deep joy.
Everytime when I go back to see them, they overflows and overwhelms my love account.
I miss you all dear children and I hope to be able to see you and to do more for you again soon.
Creating SHE (Strengths Happiness Empowerment) Network was not a plan this year and yet I grabbed the opportunity when it came along.
So grateful to have Laura join me in this long time desire to create an empowering community for women to use their strengths to empower themselves and others, and to find happiness in the process.
The successful launch of SHE Network IWD ambassadors, HEforSHE ambassadors and a fun wrap up of our 'Celebrating Women' IWD event in the midst of CoVId19 challenge was an unexpected feat.
Still feeling high from our display of unity and so excited for the plans ahead to fulfill SHE Network destiny of empowering women.
Though my autobiography was an 'accident', it is still a childhood dream fulfilled. There is something so gratifying about satisfying one's childhood dream that 3 years down the road, I still have that sense of gratification and gratitude. Time to write the next one this year. :)
Another one of my childhood ambition was to be a radio DJ. Starting Shakti on Fire podcast 2 years ago made yet another childhood dream a reality.
And now, we are days away from my brand new Strengths & Joy podcast. Gosh, gratitude and zest are bursting out from my heart! :)
So many things that I do with SUPERPact and with the Joy Method is double joy. Because not only am I fulfilling a lifelong dream of being a people enabler, I am enabled by the love of my life. He is my secret superhero who cheers me along not just in words, but also in his actions and with his heart.
I am blessed beyond words for indeed, words fail me.
Finally, the ultimate joy derives from my gratitude to the 14 years old Joy who had such a low self esteem that she looks at the floor when she walks. I have a chance to do all that I do today is largely due to her courage and her determination to reclaim her life and her sense of self. She did everything it took to do so.
I am everything that I am because of her.
Thank you little Joy.
My list of blessing goes on. I am grateful and I am happy. The world may not be perfect and we may be going through a pandemic now.
But there's always blessings in and around us if we would pause, take note and give thanks.
Happy International Day of Happiness my lovelies.
What are you happy and grateful for?
May all be well.
May all be happy.
May all be safe.
Yours in Strengths,
Joy
