News, updates and tools from the AI industry.

Here’s a new ‘experiment’ from Google: Illuminate. It seems to be very similar to the NotebookLM podcast feature, but instead of providing the written overviews/study guides like NotebookLM, it outputs an audio file and a transcription.?

There are a few more voice options as well, and they are very realistic, but I didn’t love the test product I received.

There were likes and ums every other sentence. Which, in my opinion, is the worst part of podcasting (though we all do it, I know). It did give me a good laugh that it’s mirroring the way we speak, albeit not in the most effective way.

I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the filler words are worked out, and we have a scarily convincing “human” podcast generator.
