Happy Holidays

Ah! The HOLIDAYS

The holidays are such a wonderful time for most people, who look forward to spending time with family and friends. As always, I take this time to look back at what and how we celebrated in what is now yesteryear. I remember my siblings and I, singing our little hearts out in church as we performed on stage. The plays were elaborate, the songs were rich in history and religion. In hindsight, I am amazed at how well the many skits and songs were executed back then. It's not like you had a choice really in participating or not - the only option was to perform well. The youngest among us, would get somewhat of a pass if they decided to cry from the fear of being on stage. After all, some of them were two or three years old. If you could speak, then you were required to perform during Christmas! There were a couple of times where the power went out. That did not stop the show. Performance was done by candlelight or lanterns. Those were some great times.

We note that one of the approaches taken this year by Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam and her team, was to invite the children to create cards through a competition. We congratulate the winners.?The winners:? ?We are using the cards created by the local children this holiday season. We hope you enjoy the creations as much as we do. We wish to recognize and to thank all of the volunteers who are making a difference in communities including The Red Cross, The Salvation Army, In the Pink, The Cancer Society, and many others. ?We wish everyone a Happy Holiday season. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!! Wishing each of you a 2024 of your dreams.
