A Happy and Healthy New Year

As we begin 2022 I wanted to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year and take this opportunity to briefly reflect on 2021.

Despite the ongoing challenges of operating in a pandemic, we have continued to effectively support and meet the needs of our customers.

2021 was a great year for DHL. DHL Life Sciences & Healthcare delivered over one billion life-saving COVID vaccines. We had record numbers attend our first-ever 24 hour virtual DHL Logistics and Supply Chain Summit. We opened our fourth innovation center in Dubai. We took a pioneering step into sustainable aviation with the order for 12 all electric cargo planes from Eviation. And our teams across the engineering, manufacturing and energy sector did what they do best – started meeting customers again face to face and continued working collaboratively to deliver the innovative and resilient logistics solutions needed to operate effectively during the pandemic.

We saw further transformation across the sectors we support. The drive to increase efficiency and digitalize operations continued in both manufacturing and mining. Although aviation and aerospace has struggled through the pandemic, the drive to develop innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions continued apace. Remote servicing and predictive maintenance in the elevators and escalators market continued to grow in importance. And we saw greater demand for both B2B ecommerce and sustainable logistics solutions.

Industry's growing need to achieve net-zero emissions saw DHL commit an additional 7 billion euros to accelerate both its roadmap to decarbonization and introduce additional innovative green logistics solutions to help our customers reduce emissions and meet their environmental targets.

And 2022? The Omicron variant will certainly impact business in 2022. Despite this, I believe digitalization and B2B ecommerce will continue, as will the growing demand for sustainable, resilient, end-to-end logistics solutions.
