What's coming up in November?

Effective Minute-Taking Skills

Wednesday 6th November 2024, 9.30am - 12.30pm, via Zoom

£140 + VAT per person

This course is aimed at both dedicated administrative staff and those that just need to capture the events of a meeting while also being an active participant. Whether your meetings follow a traditional format around a large table or are exclusively online over video chat (or a hybrid of the two), this course is designed to enable to have meetings that follow an organised structure from start to finish, and leave you ready for the next one.

The focus of the content is on supporting the chair and attendees of any meeting to create structure and ensure that everyone knows why they are there and what they need to do. Core skills for writing agendas and minutes are covered alongside the people and communication skills for liaising with the chair and members.

Assertiveness Skills

Tuesday 12th November 2024, 9.30am - 12.30pm, via Zoom

This half-day training programme provides the practical skills to improve assertiveness, confidence and effectiveness when dealing with others.

As a result of attending this course, delegates will learn how to:

  • Express themselves more confidently
  • Exercise more control in difficult situations
  • Deal with challenging behaviour and conversations more effectively
  • Encourage others to behave more assertively towards them
  • Say no, ask for help, give and receive feedback effectively and confidently

This course is intended to be very interactive and driven by discussion, and all attendees will be encouraged to actively engage throughout the session. The format is intended to be informal to foster natural conversation, as befitting the theme of the course.

Building Personal Resilience

Thursday 14th November 2024, 9.30am - 12.30pm, via Zoom

Our Building Personal Resilience training course is designed to help individuals build confidence and self-awareness around their own stresses and psychological challenges that they encounter, so that they can explore techniques to building personal resilience.

During this half-day training course, we will cover:

  • Understanding the importance of resilience
  • Knowing yourself
  • Tackling pressure and building resilience
  • Self-review and planning

We’ll look at where stresses and pressures come from, how they interact with each of us individually and how we can manage our own mindset and attitude to keep things under control inwardly so that we can tackle them effectively.

MHFA England - Mental Health First Aider

Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th November 2024, 9am - 5pm both days, online

£329 + VAT per person

This two day MHFA England accredited Mental Health First Aid training course trains you as an MHFA England Mental Health First Aider?. Train as a Mental Health First Aider? and receive three years of certification, plus access to ongoing benefits by joining the Association of Mental Health First Aiders?.

This course is ideal for individuals who would like to?become an MHFAider? to gain the knowledge, awareness,?and skills to spot signs of people experiencing poor mental health, be confident to start?a conversation, and signpost a?person to appropriate support.

In addition to the course, you will become part of the largest dedicated community of Mental Health First Aiders in England, the Association of Mental Health First Aiders, gaining access to resources, ongoing learning, and 24/7 digital support, to give you the tools and knowledge you need to carry out the role effectively and confidently, whether that be in your workplace, a volunteer role, or in the community.

As an MHFAider? you will be able to:

  • Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention
  • Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports
  • Practise active listening and empathy
  • Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma
  • Discuss the MHFAider? role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality
  • Practise self-care
  • Know how to use the MHFAider Support App?
  • Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England
