  • In 2021, 8% of Amazon deliveries shipped in their own container WITHOUT any added packaging from the ecommerce retail behemoth. That number rose to 11% in 2022. And Amazon has plans to continue the push to reduce packaging this year & beyond. Learn more here via Supply Chain Dive.
  • Automotive Strike Update: after reaching a tentative deal with Ford Motor Company last week, the United Auto Workers has announced that it has also reached a tentative deal with Stellantis. However, after appearing to be close to a deal with General Motors, the UAW announced Saturday that it had expanded its labor strike related to GM operations. Learn more here via CNBC.
  • The annual Forest Declaration Assessment has said that deforestation has increased by 4% worldwide in 2022. Recently, the countries that are part of the world's 3 largest rainforests met to discuss ways to prevent deforestation and protect biodiversity. Learn more here via Reuters.
  • As reported by Jo Peterson - more than 88% of organizations have been hacked in the last 24 months, according to research from Pentara Corporation . That data point is scarier than anything you might see this week on Halloween. Learn more here.
  • Speaking of cybersecurity, Helen Yu continues her popular series this month, offering cyber ideas and best practices. Recently, she offered up 5 tips to prevent phishing attacks. Learn more here.
  • As shared by Andy ThurAI - more and more companies continue to experiment with Generative AI to engage their customers. Evidently, Virgin Voyages has been creating a digital twin of Jennifer Lopez to leverage for personalized cruise invitations. No report yet if this will lead to even more cringe-worthy romantic comedies. We kid, we kid. We all love J-Lo. Learn more here.
  • Gamers around the world are celebrating, as Sony has announced its persistent supply chain issues related to the PlayStation 5 have now been resolved. More than 40M PS5's have already been sold, as of July 2023, but Sony leadership is expecting this holiday season to be one of the biggest & most successful ones in company history. Great write-up Supply Chain Now / Scott, I had talked with some people previously about that first point of shipping empty containers, keeps their employees busy but certainly doesn't help the inventory. And the statistic that Jo posted was a huge Halloween fear-instilling number. Thanks for your insights!
