HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY! 9-10-17
Michael J. Maslanka

Fortunately, most grandparents and their grandchildren have relationships and grow together. Some families, however, have strained relationships and grandchildren can miss out. In Illinois, grandparents can legally take a case to court and ask the judge to allow them visitation with their grandchildren. Certain legal requirements apply. Non-court means are also available to try to accomplish the goal of setting grandparent and grandchild visitation time. However, if all else fails, the court might be able to help.
