Happy Father's Day 2021

This post is to all the people celebrating their Father tomorrow for Father's Day.

For me, this will be the 1st fathers day without by wonderful father Russell John Corney. Dad passed away this year on 30th July at the ripe old age of 80. Some would say that was too young, others would agree with me that it was a long and full life. Dad said nothing was left in his bucket list.

My Dad was born in 1940 in New Zealand, and was the oldest of 6 (and then 8) siblings.

He spent 43 years as a pilot:

• firstly as a 21yr old in New Zealand, (1961 - 1963)
• 9yrs in Papua New Guinea (1964 - 1973) where he met and married my Mum (Susan Mary Jamieson) and became a father to me and then my brother Peter
• 20yrs in Australia (1973 - 1993) - Ansett, Compass, Compass Mark 2 airlines
• 18 months in India (1993-1994) for Jet Airways
• and finally, 11 yrs flying around the Pacific (1994 - 2005) for Air Pacific

Dad taught me so many amazing qualities ... the value of Family, Respect, Determination, Perseverance, Courage, Love, Caring, Attention to detail, Compassion, Inquisitiveness, and Practicality to name a few.

... to Captain Russell John Corney ... Father, Grandfather to 5 grandchildren ... (flying high up in the deep blue sky with Mum by your side) ... Happy Fathers Day, and may your Corney qualities continue to live on in the generations that follow you.
