Happy Data Privacy Day!

Today, data privacy is honored with global and international commitments to increase awareness of the value of protecting personal data. This day serves as a timely reminder that personal privacy is increasingly becoming recognized as a fundamental human right; statistics shows that by 2024 more than 60% of the world's population will be covered by data privacy laws. Data privacy will keep gaining ground across industries; without a doubt, data is the most strategic asset of any firm, in addition to employees, of course. Organizations can succeed in almost every area thanks to their ability to fully utilize, manage, store, share, and protect data. These areas include competitive advantage, innovation, customer experience, customer satisfaction, legal and regulatory compliance competency, and employee experience.

The?pandemic brought to light a number of pressures and challenges impacting the aviation industry, including data privacy.?Several partners and suppliers in the aviation business have access to the network at any given moment, making the airline supply chain complicated in nature. Because of this interconnectedness, access and risk?management are more crucial in this industry. The attack surface is expanding over time, and today's top targets also include loyalty programs, necessitating extra security to prevent the theft of customers' personally identifiable information (PII) and financial information. A recent IBM study found that it can take longer than six months to discover a data breach, giving hackers plenty of time to gather information or organize a disruption. Thus, the aviation sector will need to start implementing a data privacy framework to handle vulnerabilities and prevent attacks in order to respond to some of these risks. To ensure the ongoing operation of complex multi-layer systems, increased security and privacy measures must be implemented first. Applying zero-trust concepts to aviation sector systems makes it easier to stop attackers from expanding their influence after a system has been compromised. Now that massive amounts of passenger data is expected to be traveling to and from various nations, there will be more regular sharing of passenger data among numerous entities.
