Happy Birthday, - way too much introspection!
- You’ve passed age 48 now. You have a lifetime in civil construction but notice a diverging of personalities. When you were younger, deadlines, tough decisions, butting heads with subs and employees, 18 hr days, bad weather, was part of the scramble from one project to the next, up the food chain. You did well.
Happy Birthday, age 50.
- You never thought you’d see the day when you wondered if you were cut out for the business. The cowboys of the old west were pajama boys compared to today's professional heavy civil managers and superintendents. They are a tough crowd. You used to be like them.
You know everything about heavy civil
- Earthwork, excavation, bridges, pilings, deep foundations, marine, electrical hydro projects, heavy everything but can you make the money and move out of the line of fire? Can we apply your knowledge and remove the heartburn? The stress?
A kinder gentler you? Give me a break.
- Yes, maybe. I need you exactly. You’re going to watch $300M in annual bids go out. Estimating, bids, legal, client talks, getting your estimators on line, talking to our project managers. You’re the Coorindator of VPs, of a $300M quote to revenue stream. You start them, pass up to project start. Then the PM takes over.
Yes, I need a VP Coordinator of quote to project start. Salary $120k to $160k?
Once you pass middle age, your DNA tells you what the right job is for you. You no longer have that choice.
This plays to some personalities, and not to others. If it’s you, then give me a call, I’ll tell you more.
Thanks
Wolf
p.s. This isn't about chronological age, it's about reflection. Finding out who you are no matter how old you are. Finding the right fit in your profession.
p.s. This might be the first coming of age story in a career ad.
