Two years ago today, the law changed to allow ordinary people to invest in startups and small businesses they love. And two months ago, I joined the Wefunder team, which is working hard to leverage this new legislation to more equitably empower more entrepreneurs, and distribute the wealth they create more broadly throughout society. On May 16th 2016, the first day of Regulation Crowdfunding, Wefunder embarked on a quest to revitalize the American Dream. After hundreds of hours of tireless work, we launched 11 companies that day. Since then, we’ve launched hundreds more, and you’ve echoed our dedication by making over 50,000 investments, large and small, from all parts of the world. In two years, you helped us fund 112 companies with over $52 million dollars, including an online encyclopedia running on blockchain, bionic pancreas research, and an immersive art experience collective.

The Wefunder team is not going to stop moving forward. We are not going to stop fighting for American entrepreneurs with a dream. We’ve doubled our team, so we are launching more companies, processing more investments, and getting just a tad more sleep along the way.

Today, the two year anniversary of Regulation Crowdfunding, is a momentous occasion. Not just for Wefunder and the companies raising money on our platform, but also for a retooled American economy. Thanks to investors like you, we proved that investing should be available to anyone, not just the rich.
