Happy Birthday Flannery O'Connor
On this day, in 1925, in Savannah, Georgia, the great storywriter Flannery O'Connor was born. She lived less than four decades but left us one of the most powerful collections of stories in Western letters, including "Revelation", "Greenleaf." "A Good Man is Hard to Find," "Good Country People," Wiseblood, and, arguably, her finest work, "Parker's Back."
O'Connor's Mysteries and Manners, is a classic set of essays, The Habit of Being, a tour de force in personal letters. Through her stories and commentary on everything from teaching fiction to seeing God in the poverty of the human condition, Flannery O'Connor was and remains a writer for our times.
