Hello and Happy AmeriCorps Week!
This week AmeriCorps is taking the opportunity to celebrate the victories and the impacts that thousands of AmeriCorps volunteers are making for the communities that they all work so hard to support each workday! Currently, I am serving as the Balance of State Continuum of Care (BOS COC) Coordinated Entry VISTA Leader for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs where I assist with recruitment, project capacity and sustainability, VISTA member support and recognition and so much more! I take pride in being a part of AmeriCorps’ endless efforts to encourage and promote results-driven service by utilizing selfless members across the country.
The Georgia Balance of State Coordinated Entry System is a process that assists individuals experiencing homelessness gain access to important resources and services. Acting as a crisis response system, the BOS COC coordinated entry system uses standardized assessment tools and practices to create and navigate a triage service to provide the most appropriate services for those individuals.
Access points for those seeking assistance are identified in multiple locations within a region. Currently we are actively recruiting for VISTAs for both Houston and Glynn County!
Our ideal candidates for these positions could be a part of your network of family, friends, or community and are waiting for this opportunity to cross their path! Help them receive this wonderful opportunity to be a part of a movement that is “The Greater Good”!
Aren’t sure exactly what to expect as an AmeriCorps VISTA member serving to expand the BOS COC Coordinated Entry system?
