Happy 90th Birthday Farmers Insurance

One story from our early years embodies Farmers? leaders' foresight and their commitment to customer experience. On March 6, 1933, when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared a bank holiday, millions of citizens and local businesses had no access to cash including insurance companies - except for Farmers. Company leaders anticipated the bank holiday and stockpiled cash; while other insurers had to settle claims with an "IOU," Farmers district agents were notified by telegram that the claims department had been instructed to make loss settlements to policyholders in cash, the only company in the nation to do so. Word spread of Farmers financial strength and commitment to its customers, setting the stage for explosive growth over the coming years.

Over the ensuing decades, Farmers would rise to become one of the top insurance organizations in the United States, recognized for excellence in claims service, technology innovation, and most of all, for its thousands of local agents; men and women who are integral parts of their communities, and dedicated to providing professional, personalized service to Farmers customers.
