Happy 3rd Birthday PowerStore

May of 2020 was a challenging time for the world. The COVID-19 pandemic was ramping and people around the planet were being challenged in ways that hadn't been seen in more than 100+ years. In the midst of that global challenge Dell Technologies started ramping technical capabilities to assist people and businesses far and wide. The work from home scene exploded overnight and employees and students found themselves scrambling for technology to help maintain some sense of capability and normalcy.

Dell Technologies global supply chain enabled consumers to rapidly acquire and implement modern technology and fuel their work / educate from home models. It was quite impressive to see how rapidly Dell supported not only its employee base, but the global community at large. This is a snippet from Dell's corporate site in April, 2020 - "As the impact of COVID-19 spreads,?we have two main priorities: caring for the?health and safety of our team members, their families and our communities, and doing everything we can to take care of the needs of our customers and partners."

Well - in the midst of this challenging environment, Dell Technologies #PowerStore was born to the market. With the 1.0 release, PowerStore rapidly took off and quickly became the fastest growing storage product in history. From its inception and launch PowerStore was designed to be Data-Centric, Intelligent, and Adaptable.

• Data-Centric -?PowerStore is completely unified supporting both block and file protocols in an single, simple-to-use landscape. Not only does PowerStore support multi-protocol but can also cluster, support single-drive / mixed-capacity growth, and perform in-line data reduction with integrated Quick Assist Technology (QAT) from Intel.
• Intelligent?- PowerStore is SMART! Or as they say in New England, "Wicked Smaaaat." PowerStore is a highly programmable infrastructure that fully integrates with environment like VMware vRealize Orchestrator (vRO), Ansible, Kubernetes, RESTful API, CLI, PowerShell, Python, etc. There is a lot of smarts internally with machine learning AI, automated cluster expansions, Dynamic Node Affinity, and smart/autonomous data placement within a cluster.
• Adaptable?- PowerStore has unmatched adaptability and this adaptability has its foundation in the container based operating environment. Whether it is deployment options for traditional 3-Tier environments or distributed scalability with Dynamic AppsON (VxRail+PowerStore), customers can achieve operational consistency regardless of deployment need. Anytime Upgrade also allows PowerStore customers to leverage controller upgrades without being locked into long term maintenance contracts. That's adaptability!

Today, May 5, 2023, PowerStore is three years old and has amassed an install base in 90+ countries with tens of thousands of systems shipped. This level of growth is unprecedented in the industry and demonstrates Dell's commitment to execution and growth.

Roughly one year into launch Jeff Boudreau , President and GM of Dell Technologies Infrastructure and Solutions Group (ISG), said, “PowerStore is the fastest-growing new architecture in Dell history." This statement was true at launch and it maintains its trueness rolling into year three. Since launch, PowerStore has been adopted at a record setting pace and has been deployed in practically every corner of our planet.

PowerStore is currently in its second generation of hardware (Gen2) and third iteration of software (3.2). The speed that features have been brought to market is lightening fast and customers gain these advanced features and functionality at no additional cost since all licenses are included. For example, from May 2020 until now, PowerStore has introduced more than 140+ new features and enhanced performance, all from software updates.
