HAPPY 34TH ANNIVERSARY EDEN OUTSOURCE

It’s hard to fathom that Eden Outsource recently turned 34 years old…time sure flies when you love what you do!

My brother Tom and I opened Eden Industries, known as Eden Outsource today, back in 1985. Coming from a family with a long history in the Air Cargo Industry, we believed our background in cargo handling would prove valuable for assisting shipping managers with their packaging needs. Funny to think that back then, Dimensional Weight was still a mystery to most folks!

Sharing one small office, Tom and I worked nose-to-nose for 10-12 hours a day during the week…and cut it back to just 8 hours on Saturdays. There were no such things as cell phones or emails, and computers were only available to those who could afford them. But as young, wide-eyed entrepreneurs, we were determined to set out and blaze our own trail.

It's incredible to look back and think about how many new products we’ve seen come to fruition. Even more so is how much packaging we've produced over the last 34 years! Each package presented its own set of unique challenges and no two jobs were ever alike. 

The thing about the packaging business is that no one can ever say that they've seen it all!

What started out of an 800 sq. ft. office, now operates from a 40,000 sq. ft. facility. We have delivered literally millions of packages through-out our tenure. During this time, we expanded upon our custom packaging operations by offering a wide variety of Contract Manufacturing and Assembly services. Today, Eden manufactures sophisticated Surgical Equipment, IV Systems, and Power Supplies, to name a few.

By design, Eden has always remained current with new trends in the Packaging Industry. The most recent shift in the industry is the increasing concern for the environment and a need for more sustainable packaging. That is why Eden Outsource recently partnered with TemperPack as the West’s new Authorized Distributor for the first and only, fully recyclable, insulated shipping coolers on the market! ClimaCell insulated shipping containers are perhaps one of the most significant environmental packaging innovations of our time. Companies delivering Life Science and Perishable Food shipments via Cold Chain finally have access to the best alternative to Styrofoam available.

In all sincerity, we owe our modest success to our father, Larry L. Rodberg. He worked hard to keep his family very close to him and he was always there to support us, each step of the way. Even today, Eden remains a family-run business. Tom and I remain salesmen, and our eldest brother Larry runs our operations. Our sister Luana has kept a sharp eye on our accounting for all these years…you can't even spend five bucks without her asking questions! As you can imagine, it’s not always easy being in a family business…but it’s all we’ve ever known, and we wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world.

Tom and I literally built Eden from scratch. We are both extremely proud of our accomplishments…but in all honesty, it’s the people around us who deserve the credit for the last 34 fantastic years of business. From our past and present staff, our long-term vendors, and our loyal customers, to our supportive families and friends, we can’t thank you enough. We would not be celebrating this occasion without the ongoing support of this interwoven network of motivated people. We are very grateful to all of you for your dedicated work over these amazing years and we look forward to continuing to grow together as Eden Outsource approaches year 35!
