Happy 2023 Year

Happy New Year to my fellow chapter volunteers and members. As we look forward to a new exciting year, I want to bring you back to the beginning of my term. 2021 is the year we reset ourselves and align with PMI's vision and mission. For 2022, we set a solid foundation to ensure sustainability through PMI's shared values by powering the project economy in Malaysia. How do we do it? By enabling our chapter to empower our people to make ideas a reality. The ultimate goal is to turn our chapter not just into an association that advocates project management skills but building a psychologically safe platform for our members to practice and eventually create their own prospects, pride, and passion toward their dream and goals. That is our chapter 6Ps manifesto.

No doubt, we had up and down throughout 2022. The biggest takeaway for me to survive these challenges is to have a strong team. I am glad I did have a strong team of directors supported by their deputies and volunteers. The next Chapter's Board of Directors will also have a great takeaway from 2022. As I am ending my presidency, I wish them good luck in their future endeavors.?

Luck is equal to readiness and opportunity. The new BODs have all the chance to get themselves ready, with some rolling over to their 2nd year and some incumbents to their new term. There are some new faces on the board. Still, the most important is that the chapter is adopting mentoring and coaching culture to ensure growth and continuity within the organization. Opportunity, however, depends on how we leverage the environment and situation surrounding us. In 2023, the new board is planning something big that focuses on benefits and values for our chapter, especially for our chapter members, partners, and community.

Nevertheless, these are just ideas if our chapter does not have a strong community of volunteers. Our chapter needs you. Turning ideas into reality will help you create networking opportunities across industries, the prospect of businesses and career advancement, and professional development. For me, volunteering has proven that I can change my domain from IT, oil and gas, to professional development, and now in construction. What about you? It is up to you to achieve whatever is meaningful through our chapter.

In this Water-Rabbit year, I wish everyone smooth sailing and hop higher and further. Long Live and Prosper. ??

David Khaw, PMI Malaysia Chapter President 2021-2023 ??????
