Happier in Comfort Zone

Happier in Comfort Zone

After finishing college graduation, many of us were fortunate to get a job early and started our career. If job profile aligns to what you had studied in college , nothing like it and your life enters what is called as a "Safe Zone" and over the years you move from "Safe Zone" to "Comfort Zone" and how long Comfort Zone gives happiness to you ?

Now let us say you have a passion for writing , but you are not sure about these factors -(i)Would that make enough money compared to a salaried job (ii) Respect for Writing from family and Friends compare to salaried job (iii) Can you compete with others veterans in field to become best , accompanied with fear of failure. Considering all this you have 2 options to make:

Option 1: Stay in current job - Make some money - Respected by family - After many years do work just for survival not with passion - Retire with Decent or Less Savings - Feel some what happy and also feel for things which you have not tried - Enforce Next Generation to follow passion and not be struck in 9 to 5 jobs.

Option 2: Follow the passion - Failures - No money - Survival Struggle - Mixed behaviors from friends/family - Some more failures - Confidently Executing passion - Tasting Success - Failure - More Success - Huge Money - Family/Friends/World look at you as role model.

There are very few persons who pick Option 1 and Do work even after many years with Lots of Passion - Earn huge money - Seen as Role Model. If you are one among those don't read further as this article is not for you , as you are already a successful person.

Many of us know about Film Director Mani Ratnam (MR) , who needs no Introduction but how many of us know the struggles he had initially by leaving his well settled MBA job to follow his passion of writing and 4 principles we learn from his life which is applicable for any passion followers to succeed.

  • Passion Doesn't See Failures as End: Passion doesn't stop on seeing failures one after another - More you keep doing it you become better on it. Below is the sample of his failures and he tasted real success after 9 years after numerous hurdles all through.

MR accompanied one of his Director friend to write script and that movie never kicked off || Resigned his MBA job to work as Assistant Director with the top Directors but none of them took him as assistant || He had a script and was looking for Director Debut but no producer gave him chance for many years || After 6 years of sharpening his skills further, Directed his first movie with average grosser at box office followed by back to back 2 flop movies , but he never saw any Failures as end

  • Establish a Unique Style: Each of us are very unique from one another, even science supports this fact via DNA which lists there are 4^3000000000 possibilities and so it never repeats one with another in our current world population. Don't try to copy someone else and lose our uniqueness in that copy process.

MR was inspired from various good directors , but he presented movies in his own unique style which makes his fans enjoy his style. He has done only 26 movies so far in last 35 years with a diverse variety of subjects delivered in his own unique style.

  • Build your Circles: Building right members in your circles is vital for your growth. One stays mediocre or grows up based on his relationship circles. Don't be surrounded by people who does gossips, keeps complaining , nor be surrounded by people who says Yes for all your thoughts/ideas. Be surrounded by people who are more talented than you , challenge status quo , has a strong opinion but still support you.

MR built his circles with PC Sreeram , Illayaraja , Thotta Tharani who are very competent and highly talented. He kept these people with him, each of them would challenge MR on his thoughts , had different opinions and in fact MR mentioned even now they are the bouncing boards for him who gives honest feedbacks about his movie ideas and still support and maintain healthy relationship with him.

  • Nurture Next Generation: Many entrepreneurs fail on this one or they misinterpret and grow their own next generation of sons and daughters. Develop more young talents so they don't face struggles like you and help them succeed faster , the happiness you get when the talents you introduced grows more cant be explained and needs to be felt.

MR has introduced Anil Kapoor , Maadhavan(Maddy) and the Oscar winner AR Rahman who all still rock the stage which is something MR can be still Proud of.

Break your comfort zones every few years - Go with your instincts - That doesn't let you down - Keeps your Life Journey Exciting & Memorable.
