THAT is Happening in Downtown Santa Barbara?!
Happy Holidays! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful season with family and friends. There has been a lot going on in our City over the past couple of months, despite a lull in December activity due to the Thomas Fire. Thank you to our firefighters and ALL personnel who assisted with this unfortunate event. It is more important than ever that we support our local businesses, and propel them into an amazing start to the New Year!
On that note, there are some new local gems that have recently popped up in the lower State St./Funk Zone area! Adjacent to Test Pilot Lounge, Paradise Springs Winery has finally opened its tasting room, with a gorgeous interior space and outdoor patio; adding to the same block, Corazon Cocina and Captain Fatty's Brewery have leased equal parts of the 5,000 sq. ft. space previously occupied by Rebar Coffee and American Ale 2 (214 State St.); Wheel Fun Bike Rentals has a spiffy new set-up at their new 24 E. Mason St. home; and Buellton-based Skyenna Wines has opened a darling second floor tasting room with a view of the ocean at 12 Helena Ave. - go check 'em out!
Downtown there is consistent subtle movement, as always... the long vacant 1,560 sq. ft. space at 935 State St. has been leased to Creamistry, which should open around spring 2018; popular local bakery, OAT Bakery has established a footprint at 5 W. Haley St., and Somerset restaurant has reopened as Smithy Kitchen + Bar at 7 E. Anapamu St. See my State Street Update for more info.
Sales have been relatively quiet in the last months of 2017, with the most significant downtown sale being 225 E. Carrillo St. In less than 2 years, this 7,704 sq. ft. office building has sold twice.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
