TRENDING STORIES
China's Power Show
New Zealand and Australia have raised fresh concerns over nearby live-fire drills conducted by Chinese warships armed with “extremely capable” weapons as it continue to show off its firepower. A Chinese Navy formation held two live-fire exercises in the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand on Friday and Saturday, prompting passenger planes to change course mid-flight and rattling officials in both countries.- CNN.
Artists Protest UK Copyright Sell-Out to AI
No less than a thousand artists gathered on Monday to release a "silent album" in protest of the new UK copyright law that allows developers to train AI models on artists’ content found online without permission or payment. This is unless artists opt out. The 12-track album is titled "Is This What We Want?" and doesn't drop quite like the Band-Aid album of 1984, rather the artists have put together recordings of empty studios and performance spaces - a symbolic representation of what they believe will be the impact of the planned copyright law changes. - Tech Crunch.

GLOBAL NEWS
Russia Launches Air Strikes into Ukraine
Ukraine's air force said Russia launched a record-setting 267 drones into its territory but that it shot down the majority of the attack drones. This recent Russian attack comes as a provocation just as Ukraine prepares to mark its third year of war anniversary. Ukraine has since retaliated with similar long-range strikes in the last 24 hours. - ABC News.
Space Mysteries 6: Antimatter
Antimatter can be described as the twin of almost all the subatomic particles that make up our universe. Look at it this way. The matter in our universe exists in different forms; solids, liquids, gases, and plasma. These all consist of subatomic particles that give matter its mass and volume. Particles like baryons (called so for having three valence quarks) and leptons. Baryons consist of protons, neutrons, and other quarks, while leptons consist of electrons and neutrinos. Matter can indeed have an opposite which we call Antimatter. - US Department of Energy.
Antimatter should be everywhere, but it isn't. This is a deduction because when matter and its antimatter meet they destroy each other, like the Big Bang, they cause an explosion. But we don't see these explosions everywhere, and thankfully so or we won't have stars, planets, or even people all of which is matter. More frightening is how Physics says there is one extra matter for every billion matter-antimatter pair. Yikes! And of course that part about bananas. Double Yikes!

BUSINESS REVIEW
The Nike Problem
Over the last year or so--what experts describe as a terrible Nike year--Nike has struggled in nearly every area. Despite cutting its staff strength by hundreds, its stock has lost more than a quarter of its value since John Donahoe stepped in. But, this wasn't the only thing the brand lost. Their problems started--as many recall--after that 2024 Paris Olympics 'Winning isn't for Everyone" Ad that spread untrue sentiments about greatness, saluting weakness rather than the strength of fair competition required for the games. They slipped from the top spot for spreading all out and left the market open for brands like Hoka to claim. - Sneaker Freaker.
This is what Nike's new CEO, Elliot Hills hopes to fix; a brand overhaul effort to refocus Nike on core sports people knew it for. He begins with that Super Bowl Ad everyone is talking about, and now this partnership with Kim Kardashian for a new brand called “NikeSkims." - BBC.
