Hanjin X EVITS Company launches electric parcel delivery service
Demonstration of a courier vehicle into an electric vehicle
Signed MOU with EVITS Company, a maker of smart electric vehicle platform
Expanded introduction of electric vehicles and additional review of charging business in parcel delivery terminals
Logistics company Hanjin has begun to operate a courier vehicle as an electric vehicle to cope with changes in the domestic industrial environment due to tightening environmental regulations. Hanjin signed an MOU with EVITS Company, a maker of smart electric vehicle platforms, on March 13 to convert existing delivery vehicles into electric vehicles.
Jeju-based EVITS Company is a promising start-up that focuses on e-Mobility R & D. Through this agreement, Hanjin will convert two actual home-delivery vehicles into electric cars, which will be piloted on Jeju Island, which is easier to charge and more convenient than other regions. The pilot will run until August and convert existing courier vehicles to electric vehicles by May.
EVITS Company, which will be in charge of vehicle remodeling, specializes in electric vehicle total service solutions. Leebit Company, which nestled at the Jeju Creative Innovation Center in Jeju Venture Floor last year, operated by Jeju Techno Park, is a business model that converts classic cars into electric cars. It is aiming for B2C (business-to-consumer transaction) in the form of demand platform.
Hanjin compares performance with existing vehicles such as economic feasibility and environmental pollutant emissions during the pilot operation period, and checks the adaptability of the internal and external environment such as driving performance and stability according to the load amount and road environment. It also tests how the courier's working conditions are affected by vehicle noise or vibration.
After the pilot operation, the company plans to further examine the introduction of electric vehicles in parcel delivery vehicles and recharge electric vehicles in parcel delivery terminals. In the future, the working environment is expected to be improved by reducing vehicle maintenance costs such as fuel costs, tolls and parking fees, and reducing the fatigue of couriers.
An official from Hanjin said, “The conversion of electric vehicles by courier vehicles to respond to eco-friendly policies and to reduce costs is expected to increase satisfaction for both courier engineers and customers in the future.” We will complete the pilot successfully.
